Curtis James Jackson III who is more popularly known as 50 cent was born on 6 July 1975 in Queens, New York. His mother was a Drug Dealer who raised 50 cent in South Jamaica with a lot of difficulties. When Curtis was old 8 years old, his mother died. After the death of her mother, he was raised by his grandmother. His financial situation compelled him to take up her mother’s job of drug dealing at the age of 12. Later on in 10th grade, he was caught by the authorities for dealing with drugs and arms and Ammunition. Then again in the year 1994, he was arrested for selling cocaine. Curtis became popular with his controversial rap single ‘How to Rob’. He released Thug Love in 2000. After that, he was Shot badly by gunmen in Queens and he was hospitalized for 13 days as he fired nine shots at his hands, arms, hips, both legs, chest, and left cheek. He signed a contract with Columbia Records but he was later turned down by it when he tried to publish Ghetto Qu’ran which was seen as an insult by followers of Islam, therefore, he was blacklisted by the United States recording industry as a whole.

In a short period of time, he founded the label G-Unit records, and he launched G-Unit which is a clothing company.
